Original article title
Outcomes post-thrombectomy in children: A multi-site assessment of a new non-lytic endovascular device combined with anticoagulation for management of adolescents with extensive acute lower limb deep vein thrombosis.
Takeaway
In 21 adolescents receiving mechanical thrombectomy plus anticoagulation for extensive leg DVT, most had no post-thrombotic syndrome at follow-up and none had major bleeding. The uncontrolled series cannot establish an advantage over anticoagulation or thrombolysis.
Keep in mind
Small retrospective multisite cohort.
